The TK-208 Typhoon class submarine was a Soviet nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine constructed at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk, Russia in 1978. This class of submarine was the largest class of submarine ever built, measuring 175 meters in length with a displacement of 48,000 tons when submerged.
The TK-208 was commissioned into the Soviet Navy in 1981 and served for almost 30 years until it was decommissioned in 2010. This submarine was designed to carry and launch long-range ballistic missiles, and it was capable of carrying up to 20 missiles at a time. In addition, the TK-208 also had the capability to launch cruise missiles and torpedoes, making it one of the most powerful and versatile submarines of the time.
