This Christmas, at Whipps Cross Hospital, nurses sang Christmas carols to the patients. In 1952, a group of nurses serenaded patients in the Women’s ward and spread festive cheer throughout the hospital.
The nurses sang a selection of classic Christmas carols, such as ‘Silent Night’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’. The patients’ faces lit up with delight as the nurses sang, and the ward was soon filled with joy and festive cheer.
This special act of kindness was a reminder of the importance of recognizing the humanity of those in need of care and of the power of music to bring comfort and joy.
