The golden days of Hollywood are remembered fondly by many. On the lot of Goldwyn Studios in 1959, four of the biggest stars in the business – Sidney Poitier, Tony Curtis, Sammy Davis Jr. and Jack Lemmon – were all gathered together in one place. These four actors, and their many films, would go on to define a generation.
Sidney Poitier was already an Academy Award winner, having won Best Actor for his role in “Lilies of the Field” in 1963. Tony Curtis was a leading man in films such as “Some Like It Hot” and “The Defiant Ones”. Sammy Davis Jr. was a singer, dancer and actor whose career spanned decades. And Jack Lemmon was known for his comedic roles in films like “The Odd Couple” and “Some Like It Hot”.
It’s no wonder this moment in time was captured for posterity. A lot of talent was present on the lot of Goldwyn Studios in 1959 and it’s a testament to the power of film that these amazing actors are still remembered today.
